The farmhouse Fontana del Cherubino in Sicily, created in 2007, is one of the world’s premier locations for restful rejuvenation and healthful cuisine.
The name Fontana del Cherubino derives from an ancient fountain located in the area, built in 1757 but which is still used as a water supply for the region. Cradled between the historic valley of Mt. Etna and the fertile plains of Catania, this farmhouse creates delectable menus using freshly grown local products, enhanced with the high-quality extra-virgin olive oil and served with the richly-bodied and famous wines of the Etna region.
The olives that produce the extra-virgin olio of Cherubino are grown in the volcanic soil of nearby Etna, a ground ideally suited for the cultivation of olives, grapes and citrus fruits. The original olive groves were planted by the founding family member at the end of the XIX century with the cultivation of Nocellara Etnea, that still constitutes the main variety together with Biancolilla and other selections.
The restaurant is open on weekends and holidays, as well as, by reservation, for particular events. Our menu changes every week, and is based on traditional Sicilian tradition, updated and reviewed in a contemporary modern way.
Dishes are always prepared with seasonal products coming directly from our farm. Our farm harvests include prickly pears, oranges and a variety of nutritious foodstuffs that include potatoes, onions, vegetables, salads, olives, and oranges, garnished with fresh eggs and delicious wines. Our wine, come from Nerello Mascalese grapes, is produced and bottled locally in our nearby vineyard. A selection of robust locally produced red and white Sicilian and some Calabrian wines are available for the enjoyment of guests perfect for every occasion
All our dishes are exclusively prepared with our extra-virgin olive oil.
